Celebrating Blake!!!

Blake's first birthday is today and I thought I would put together a blog celebrating his first year of life!! I will warn you that this is quite long and as I was looking through these pictures I cannot believe how fast a year has gone by. So...here is my Blakers!

My OBGYN decided that November 12th would be Blake's birthday because I had developed preeclyamsia and the only way to cure it is to get the baby out. I was quite nervous about having to be induced, but knew that I needed to do what was best for him and me. So, after about 7 1/2 hours of labor (thank you epidural) Blake was here.

So, after Blake was born everything looked great except his blood sugar. It was too low and they couldn't get it to go back up. So, he ended up in the NICU.

He had to eat every three hours so we could get the blood sugar up.

Today we are spending the whole day together. Daddy even took the day off work. Later we are going to get Blake's picture taken and go out to eat. Saturday is the big party day...so more pictures will be posted then! Happy Birthday Little Blaker Bear! We love you!!!!!!

So, my brother and his wife had their baby on September 8th and she is the first girl baby born to my side of the family! We are super excited for some pink!! Her name is Alexis Cheyenne and she is just wonderful! Here are a few pictures although I am sure she has changed a lot since we first got to meet her!

I got the honor of being at the hospital when she was born. Kyle had to work and the boys were with their grandparents. It was a lot different being on the other side of the delievery room!!! Waiting is hard! But she is here and gorgeous and I miss her like crazy!!!

So, I know that it has been a loooonngg time since I last posted. Things around here are super busy and since Blake has started crawling it's even more busy! Haha! We have had a fun couple of months so this week I am going to try to play "catch up" on our lives.

My dad came up for a couple days to visit and we had a great time! He kept the boys entertained and they loved having some one on one attention from their Papaw. He came with me to my first volleyball class at the Y (which has started up again) and observed me coaching. On Thursday he took the boys and I too McDonalds and then to the park.

We were very lucky to get a visit from some very special people this summer!!! The Dillon Clan came to visit!! We were very busy while they were here and we had so much fun!!!

A Great Weekend!

We were able to have a great weekend with Kyle's family!! They arrived Friday afternoon and we were able to let the kids play outside for awhile and then we ate pizza and relaxed. Our pool is a little small, but it worked!

Drew loves to play Starbucks, so these were our two "baristas" for the weekend. For some reason they only made frappucinos!

On Saturday night we went to a TinCaps game. The TinCaps are a single a baseball team here in town. Their field is brand new and it's VERY nice!

This was Drew's first baseball game....something Kyle has looked forward to for awhile! He even got Drew a baseball!

Drew got a new carseat for his birthday, so we gave Drew's old one to Blake...no more infant carrier!! I am a little sad about this one! So, the infant seat is inside for now and this is what we found the other day.

It's amazing how big they get in three years. (And I do know this is a horrible picture of baby Drew, but it was the only one I could find quick of him in the carseat.)

A Birthday and a Wedding

As usual the summer has been crazy! In the first two weeks of July Drew turned 3 and my youngest brother got hitched. In between those events Kyle co-deaned camp for 8th-9th graders. AAHHH!!! I didn't get very many pictures from Drew's birthday because I was trying to enjoy it. I am hoping the grandparents got some good shots! Drew had an Imagination Movers birthday party.

This is the first year that I made his cake. It didn't quite turn out like the picture I saw, but it was done out of love (and it was fun)!

Family Reunion

A few weekends ago we had a family reunion for my Mom's side of the family. Since our families are growing it gets harder and harder for us all to get together at Thanksgiving and Christmas. So, it was super awesome so see everyone. I didn't get too many pictures because I was busy visiting, but here are a few from the weekend!

This is Drew and Brody eating together. They are second cousins. Lisa is my cousin and Brody's mom. It's so much fun because Lisa is 6 months older than I am and Drew is 6 months older than Brody. Fun that we got to grow up together and now our boys are close in age too.

Now that Blake is sitting up we decided to try out his ring for the bathtub! It suits him much better than the infant tub and now I don't get soaked when he gets a bath! Although the side of our tub is kinda high so it makes it hard for me to bend over it to bathe him, so usually Kyle gives the boys baths. On this day, however, I had to do it...so here are some cute pictures of the kiddos!!!

Okay, so again I am slacking in my posts...my only excuse is that it's hard to type long things when there is a kid in your lap (right now it's Drew, but not for too long because Blake is getting fussy). Anyhoo....our May was a bit crazy, but the summer doesn't get any slower, so here goes nothing...

Drew had a lot of fun finger painting for his grandma and mamaw this year for Mother's Day! He made them each a nice picture and then gave them each a set of his handprints....he had a blast!

Baby Dedication

Mother's Day was also a special day for us because we were able to dedicate Blake to the Lord. We made a promise to raise him up to know and love God. It was a very sweet time for our family!

After service we had lunch with both sets of the boys' grandparents and their aunts and uncles and even one set of great-grandparents! It was a great time!! Of course....Drew just wanted the cake!

It's Time to Play Outside!

It's finally been nice enough to get outside and Drew LOVES it!! Last night Kyle had to carry him in kicking and screaming because he wanted to stay outside. He has a few new toys this summer to play with, so he has been all over them!

This is his ESPN better batter. I love it because you load the baseballs in the hopper, press the red button on home plate and the hopper loads it up and then he takes a swing! He can do it all by himself!

There is a brand new park over by the hospital where Blake was born and it is so awesome! Drew has been three times and wants to go back again soon. Last night Kyle was able to go with us for the first time and Drew was so excited!!

I try not to brag on this blog too much! I try mainly to inform everyone of what's going on in our lives....but I have to brag on this picture! He does it completely by himself and he's 2!!!!!

Easter Pictures (I know I am behind...)

All of my recent posts have had so many pictures because I wait to long in between to post anything. My goal is two posts per week! Hold me to it!!! These are all from Easter. Our Easter weekend was pretty busy because we visited Brookston on Friday and Saturday and then got home late Saturday night. So, we did our Easter baskets after church on Sunday. This year in talking to Drew about what Easter is all about we basically told him that Jesus did something very special for us so we could be with him forever. He totally doesn't get it yet, but we pray that as he grows God will give us the right words to teach him!

Trip to Wisconsin!!

After having been gone 8 months, we finally made it back up to Wisconsin to visit friends. For most of them it was the first time they were able to meet Blake!! So, other than the fact that we were all a little under the weather, it was a blast!

We were able to go to XStream and the Edge where Kyle got to wear some excellent food on his head. We were also able to visit with lots of students and volunteers. Thursday I went to the Y and was able to see lots of the ladies I used to work with and then I got to enjoy lunch with a good friend. Kyle was able to do lunch with his old planning team. Thursday evening we spent with the Dillon family and you will see pictures below. Friday I was able to do lunch and party prep with my good friends Kari and Laurie. They boys came in the afternoon and then Friday evening we had a get together at the Belmers with lots of friends. It was a blast! Saturday we were able to hang out and chill with Kari and Don and then Saturday evening my WI babysitters were able to come watch the boys so Kyle and I could have dinner at La Estacion with friends. Yummy yummy food!!! Sunday was church day and then time to leave. It was very sad to leave our friends, but were are super excited for some visits this summer!!

I didn't take near enough pictures, but here are some that I did get. Bo is an awesome hockey player and the reason our family likes hockey so much is because of the Belmer family....so this was very special to us!

We were also able to spend the afternoon and evening with the family that I used to nanny for! They have grown up so much, but the evening was a blast! The kids had fun playing together and Reilly was my little Blake helper all night, so I was able to visit with Jen and Kevin as well!

I tried all night to get a picture of me and Mitchell, but he just wouldn't sit still long enough. But I did get another great memory! We were upstairs after playing hide and seek for 45 minutes and he was showing me his room. He then asked me if he could read me a book and I said, "of course." Through my tears I watched as this little boy, who I have watched grow up, read me a story about a dog named Biscuit. Makes me wonder what will happen when my own boys read to me for the first time. Mitchy and I have a special bond. He is the reason that this family means so much to me!!

So, it's been a month since I have posted, I cannot believe it!! So, here is a post with LOTS of pictures and I will follow up with a post from our Wisconsin Trip and from Easter in the next couple of days! It is quite the hodge podge of pictures...but will describe as I go! Haha!

There are lots of exciting things happening at our house...Blake started cereal this week! It's been a very exciting experience and he has done great! We usually do it in the morning for breakfast and he usually makes a big mess!! Haha!

We also went to a Fort Wayne Komets game last weekend. They are a semi-pro hockey team here in town. Drew LOVED it and won't stop playing hockey now!! It's very cute!! Drew has also gotten to play outside a lot this week and he wants to go out all the time. The three of us took a walk one afternoon also. It was so nice to get outside and enjoy the weather....hurry up spring!

So, we have been busy with lots of things lately. I (Amy) just started coaching elementary volleyball at the Y and it has been so great to get back into the game! I am also glad to get back into the Y...we have a really nice one here and I am hoping to get more involved in it. The boys are doing really well. We had a well baby check for Blake and the doctor says that he looks great! He weighs in at 16 lbs. 4 oz.!!! Here is a little of whats been going on at our house...

One day while playing in his room, Drew managed to totally tear it apart and flip his mattress off his bed!

This was Saturday afternoon at our house. Now you must know that Blake never sleeps longer than 20 minutes during the daytime unless someone is holding him....but as he was playing...he started closing his eyes and then fell asleep. It was so sweet....but of course, he only slept 20 minutes! Any brilliant ideas to get this kid to nap in his bed better?? He sleeps in there at night fine...silly boy!

Yes it's true...Blake is 2 months old already! It just doesn't seem possible! Here are his 7 and 8 week pictures! We'll take a 9 week one today sometime! We had our two month check up at the doctor yesterday and he said that Blake was doing fantastic!!! He is 11 lbs. 12 oz. and 22 1/8 inches long!

If you haven't ever had my mom's sugar cookies, you are missing out on the BEST cookies you'll ever eat! Growing up and even to this day my mom makes TONS of them throughout the year, but especially at Christmas time. She wanted to start a tradition with her grandkids that they set out a day to make sugar cookies and frost them, so since I am the only one with kids (so far), she came to my house this year to do it. Drew had an absolute blast!!! He really REALLY like the sprinkles!! They were his favorite. He also didn't mind eating the cookies too! Here are a few shots from that day!

So, we basically just had to change our url because we aren't "The Turner Trio" anymore.....there are four of us now!
